The short answer

Avignon suits a rail-linked heritage stay; Aix offers town life; Saint-Rémy suits the Alpilles; the Luberon offers countryside and village outings. One base can work well for a shorter stay. Our seven-day, six-night example deliberately uses two nights in Avignon and four in one Luberon hotel, with one transfer between them.

Avignon: a practical city start

Avignon works as a starting point for heritage visits and town evenings. Confirm whether you arrive at Avignon TGV or Avignon Centre and plan the actual hotel transfer. The sample spends two nights here before moving to the countryside.

The Palais des Papes is a visit to plan around your comfort with steps. We discuss the relevant visitor route and reservation arrangements rather than assuming every part is easy to access.

The Luberon: four nights to settle in

The sample uses one country hotel for four nights rather than changing village every evening. Room access, walking surfaces, restaurant options and any pool or spa facilities need to be checked at the actual property.

Choose transport for the named outings and return to the same hotel. A village walk in Roussillon does not automatically include the ochre trail, which has different terrain and access conditions.

Aix or Saint-Rémy: different bases for different priorities

Aix can suit town life and outings toward its surrounding area; Saint-Rémy is a starting point for the Alpilles. These are alternatives, not extra nights silently added to the Avignon and Luberon example. We adjust the route and quote if either matters more to you.

One base or two: decide from the route

There is no universal seven-night threshold for changing hotels. The six-night sample has one deliberate move from city to countryside. If packing matters more than shortening individual outings, choose one base and we will prepare a separate itinerary and quote.

Check the hotel approach, luggage handling, steps and lifts.
Include the journeys to dinner, not only daytime sightseeing.

Does the sample change hotels?

Yes, once. It proposes two nights in Avignon and four in one Luberon hotel, over seven calendar days. Arrival, the hotel move and departure are part of the plan, not additional full sightseeing days.

Can I keep the same hotel throughout?

Yes. Tell us whether you prefer town evenings or a country property. We can redesign the route around one base and confirm its own transport, inclusions and total in a separate proposal.

Do I need to rent a car?

Not necessarily. We compare selected private transfers, driver-led outings and other practical options for the chosen hotel. The example does not include a continuously available car or driver.
