Choose your time in the city
These are full sightseeing days, not nights or arrival days. They are planning suggestions, not a minimum stay or a fixed package. We adapt the order to your travel dates, energy and confirmed admission times.
2 days: choose your priorities
One main art visit, a sense of the city and time to enjoy it. You do not need to fit in every major museum.
Day 1: one gallery, then the river
Choose the Uffizi OR the Accademia as your main visit. Plan lunch nearby, then return to your hotel or take a short riverside walk. Keep the evening close to your base.
Day 2: the cathedral neighborhood and Oltrarno
See the cathedral area from outside, then cross the river for a relaxed Oltrarno walk and lunch. Keep the afternoon free. If a dome climb matters most, replace part of this day rather than adding it on top.
3 days: give a second interest its own day
Keep the two-day outline, then choose a second gallery, a cathedral visit or a quieter day. No countryside excursion is assumed.
Days 1 and 2: follow the two-day outline
One focused gallery visit, the river and Oltrarno, with a proper lunch break and space to rest each day.
Day 3: your second priority
Choose the other gallery OR a separately arranged cathedral-complex visit, with a dome climb only if you want the steps. Leave the rest of the day for a neighborhood cafe, shops or your hotel.
4 days: stay in Florence and slow down
You do not have to leave the city to make a fourth day worthwhile. Spread the visits out or add something personal.
Days 1 to 3: keep the same priorities
Spread the previous visits across mornings, leaving afternoons flexible. A later start is as valid as another museum.
Day 4: a different side of Florence
Consider a food experience, an artisan appointment or another Oltrarno morning. A viewpoint outing toward San Miniato can replace these if the uphill route suits you. Choose one, then leave time for a long lunch and rest.
Three different choices, not three compulsory bookings
Choose by interest before choosing a ticket. We check official admission details for your dates and organize the reservations you approve. The itinerary follows confirmed times, not an assumed sell-out order.
Uffizi: make painting the focus
Choose this when the Renaissance paintings are a priority. Plan a focused visit and a break afterward; it does not need to share a day with another major gallery.
Treat the Accademia as its own art choice, not an automatic extra after the Uffizi. If both matter to you, give them different days where possible. The museum strongly recommends booking.
Cathedral and dome: decide on the climb separately
Walking around the cathedral is different from entering its monuments or climbing the dome. The dome climb requires a reserved time slot and involves 463 steps, with no lift. Tell us about your comfort with stairs and enclosed spaces before we add it.
Florence's center is compact, but standing, uneven surfaces, steps and heat can still make a day tiring. Tell us your comfortable walking time. We group nearby stops, add seated breaks and discuss transport or accessible arrangements where useful.

Rome and Florence are linked by high-speed trains. We check the stations, service and transfer time for your dates. Allow time for the station, luggage and the transfer to your hotel, not just the time on the train.

Is two days in Florence enough?
Two full days can work for one main gallery, the cathedral neighborhood from outside and time in the Oltrarno. It means choosing priorities, not squeezing the Uffizi, Accademia and a dome climb into one day. Add time if you want more art or a slower pace; arrival and departure days need their own allowance.
What changes with three or four days in Florence?
A third day gives a second art or cathedral visit its own space. A fourth can spread the same priorities out or add a food experience, artisan appointment or neighborhood time. These are city-only suggestions; neither plan requires a Tuscany day trip.
Do I need to visit the Uffizi, Accademia and dome?
No. They are different choices. Choose the Uffizi for its painting collection, the Accademia if David is a priority, and the dome only if you want the climb and it suits you. We check official admission rules, available times and your preferences before organizing approved bookings.
Can you plan Florence with less walking or no dome climb?
Yes. Tell us your comfortable walking time, stair preferences and any access needs. We can reduce the number of stops, group nearby visits and build in seated breaks. The dome is not compulsory; exact access and transport arrangements are checked with the venues and providers for your trip.
How do Florence and Rome fit together?
High-speed trains make them a practical combination, but the journey time depends on the exact service and stations. We check the timetable for your date. Hotel transfers, luggage and station time also belong in the plan.
Is this the same trip as your Florence and Tuscany journey?
No. This guide offers two, three or four full days in Florence only. The separate example journey lasts eight days and seven nights, with four nights in Florence and three in Chianti. Its three indicative budgets apply to that longer example, not to these city plans.
