Before and after your Western Europe cruise

Your cruise is one part of your trip. We plan the rest.

A Mediterranean sailing, an Atlantic itinerary or a French river cruise can be the beginning of a longer journey. Chic Trip designs and arranges your personal stay in France and Italy before or after the cruise you have chosen or are still considering.

Keep your cruise booking and your current cruise agent. We focus on the part of the trip you want us to manage.

The Eiffel Tower, a passing metro and the Seine in Paris

Planned by Fred, Chic Trip's Paris-born founder, based in Paris. Meet your planner.

More of Europe, without repeating your cruise

Send us the sailing itinerary and your included excursions before we recommend anything. If your cruise already covers a city tour, a vineyard or a Normandy visit, we build around it. Your extra days can focus on a museum you care about, neighborhood walks, a food experience or simply unhurried evenings.

A hotel chosen for your stay, not just your ship

We compare location, room category, comfort and access against your plans. A walkable neighborhood can be worth more than an impressive hotel name far from your evenings. Tell us about stairs, walking limits and luggage so we can check suitability with suppliers.

The handover from airport to hotel to ship

We propose a personally arranged airport meet-and-greet after your flight, then coordinate your hotel and ship transfers for the agreed itinerary. We confirm the actual berth and boarding instructions from your operator, not just the city printed on the brochure. Early room access and luggage storage are checked, not assumed.

Restaurants, tickets and a human point of contact

Your land itinerary brings the agreed reservations, practical directions and timings together in the Chic Trip app. We arrange the approved meals, museum entries and guides, subject to availability, and remain your contact during the land stay. Private tours are a choice, not a requirement.

Ocean and river cruises: where your land stay can begin

Our land-planning focus is France and Italy. The options below depend on your actual embarkation or disembarkation point, available nights and travel connections. They are not promises of a particular sailing or same-day transfer.

The Tiber and illuminated dome of St Peter's Basilica at dusk

Paris and the Seine

Before or after a Paris and Normandy river cruise, add the Paris your included program misses. Check the ship's actual berth and whether you want city days before sailing, after sailing or both.

Bordeaux and the Atlantic coast

Build a Bordeaux land stay around a river cruise or an Atlantic sailing that starts or ends there. Compare wine visits already included before adding vineyard days; a cruise call alone does not create an overnight extension.

Lyon and Provence river journeys

For a Rhône or Saône itinerary, use the actual start and end points to choose a stay in Lyon, Provence or a connection to Paris. We check where countryside days add something beyond your included stops.

Marseille and the French Riviera

For a Western Mediterranean cruise, consider Provence around Marseille or a Riviera stay when your ship's port and dates make it practical. Marseille, Nice and nearby cruise ports are not interchangeable transfer points.

Rome and Italy's Mediterranean coast

Add Rome around a Civitavecchia departure or arrival, or assess a longer Italian journey around another confirmed port. A stop advertised as Rome is not a berth in central Rome. Tuscany, the coast or the lakes need enough nights and a workable connection, not a rushed detour.

A cruise starting elsewhere in Western Europe

Sailing from Barcelona, Lisbon, Southampton or another port? We can assess a France or Italy stay connected to your cruise by a separately planned journey. Extra countries, local suppliers and responsibility for each transfer must be confirmed before we quote; this is not a promise to manage every Western European port.

What could your extra nights look like?

Illustrative starting points, not fixed packages. We adjust them to your included excursions, arrival time, opening days and pace.

Before sailing: settle into your departure city

Three nights in Paris or Rome, where the sailing makes that practical: one hotel, a gentle arrival, a carefully chosen museum and neighborhood meals. Leave boarding day focused on reaching the actual port comfortably.

After sailing: stay beyond the excursion

Three or four nights in a suitable French or Italian base for the art, food and evenings your cruise did not cover. We compare what you have already seen before suggesting another guided tour.

Make it a longer France or Italy journey

With more nights, assess Provence, Tuscany or another region that fits your route. We compare rail or flight connections, luggage and hotel changes first. A cross-country connection is a travel day to plan, not a free extra destination.

Better value starts with comparing the same trip

A cruise-line extension may already be the right choice. We compare the actual hotel and room, nights, meals, transfers, included visits, tour format and cancellation terms with your priorities. Our opportunity is to avoid duplicated visits, unnecessary transfers and upgrades you do not value. A custom stay is not a promise of a lower total price.

Your land-stay estimate and our planning fee are shown separately before you commit. Your already-booked cruise is not part of the services we are quoting. We confirm the scope, prices and your approval before making reservations; we do not change your cruise reservation.

Western Europe cruise extensions: your questions

Can you help if our ocean or river cruise is already booked?

Yes. Keep your booking and your agent. We use your confirmed itinerary and dates to plan the land stay around them. Changes to the sailing itself stay with your cruise provider.

Should we take the cruise company's extension instead?

Possibly. It can be a convenient choice if the hotel, pace and included visits suit you. A custom extension makes sense when you want different nights, a particular neighborhood, your own dining plans or a route beyond the standard stay. Compare the full inclusions and conditions before deciding.

Are you affiliated with our cruise line?

No. Chic Trip is an independent travel planner, not an official representative of your cruise operator. We can assess a separate France or Italy stay around an ocean or river sailing, subject to the itinerary, dates and logistics.

Can we add only a short stay?

Tell us how many nights you have and what you need. We assess the scope and quote the land planning separately. You do not need to buy a complete multi-country itinerary to discuss an extension.

Do you arrange every port stop during the cruise?

The core service here is your overnight stay before or after sailing, not an excursion package for every port call. If you want help with a stop in France or Italy, ask us to assess it separately against the ship's all-aboard time, tender arrangements and transport. We do not offer a cruise-line return-to-ship guarantee.

Can you help with a cruise departing outside France or Italy?

We can assess a France or Italy stay before or after it, including the connection to your cruise. Arrangements in other countries are subject to a separate scope and supplier check. We do not imply that every Western European destination is covered automatically.

Is this a dinner cruise or a cruise booking service?

This page is for a stay on land before or after a multi-night ocean or river cruise. It is not a ticket page for an evening boat ride, and the service described here does not include selling or modifying your cruise.

Let's build the part your cruise does not cover

For our first conversation, have your company and ship, ocean or river itinerary, dates, embarkation and disembarkation ports, extra nights and countries in mind. If you have an extension quote, we can compare its scope too. Keep your land budget separate from the cruise fare. Please do not send passports or payment details.
