Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste

Rue Saint-Jean
The principal Renaissance street reveals carved doorways above its busiest storefronts.
Tip: Visit early enough to notice architecture without dense crowds.
Longue Traboule Entrance
A sequence of courtyards demonstrates how passages connect parallel streets through deep urban blocks.
Tip: Do not enter on this self-guided route: the tourist office currently requires visitors to be accompanied. Use the signed entrance as the exterior stop and remain quiet around residents.
Place du Change
Merchants' houses and the former exchange recall Lyon's international commercial life.
Tip: The square is a useful outdoor pause if traboules are closed.
Cour des Loges Exterior
A layered Renaissance façade hints at the courtyards concealed behind Vieux Lyon's streets.
Tip: Treat hotel areas as private unless explicitly invited.
