What Does a Paris Travel Concierge Actually Do?
Itinerary and planning 7 min read
Quick answer
A Paris travel concierge plans your itinerary and coordinates hotels, restaurants, tickets, guides and transfers, with support during your stay. The planning fee is separate from trip expenses. Your written proposal confirms the scope.
A Paris travel concierge turns your priorities into a workable itinerary, then coordinates the bookings and practical details within an agreed scope. At Chic Trip, that can include hotels, restaurant reservations, museum visits, guides and transfers, with support during your stay. The planning fee pays for our work; it is not the total cost of your vacation. Flights remain yours to book.
Imagine arriving in Paris with the first evening already thought through: a comfortable transfer, time to settle in, and a restaurant you will enjoy without crossing the city again. The next morning has a purpose, but also room for a coffee and an unexpected shop. That is the kind of difference good planning should make. More reservations are not automatically a better trip.
Start with your trip, not a standard list
Before choosing activities, we need to know what you have already booked, what brought you to Paris, and what a comfortable day looks like for you. A first visit built around art is different from a return visit centered on food. Walking comfort, stairs, dietary requirements and the amount of guided time you enjoy all affect the plan.
We begin with the structure: which neighborhoods belong together, how much time the main visits need, and where you want a slower afternoon. You review the direction before the detailed reservations are locked in. We also highlight worthwhile places that the available time does not allow, so you understand the choices rather than discovering them after the trip.
What is included, and what costs extra?
Your written proposal is the reference for the exact scope. Here is how to read the main parts of a Concierge plan.
| Part of the trip | Planning and coordination | Separate trip expense |
|---|---|---|
| Daily itinerary | Order of visits, realistic pacing, neighborhood choices and alternatives | Admission, transport and purchases |
| Hotels | Shortlist and booking assistance for the agreed stay | Room, breakfast when extra, taxes and any hotel charges |
| Restaurants | Choices around your tastes, budget and daily route; reservation coordination | Meals, drinks and any deposits or cancellation charges |
| Museums and attractions | Visit format, timing and booking coordination | Tickets and any guide or tour price |
| Transfers | Suitable vehicle, meeting arrangements and luggage requirements | The quoted transfer price |
| Support | Help with the agreed trip during your stay | Additional services you choose to purchase |
An itinerary entry is a recommendation until you approve it and the booking is confirmed. A reservation confirmation should show the date, time, party size and relevant conditions. A price estimate for a future trip is not proof that the supplier is already accepting reservations.
A guide where it matters, freedom where you want it

Concierge does not mean having a private guide beside you all day. You may want a specialist to help you understand a museum, a small-group experience for another visit, and a self-guided neighborhood afternoon. We discuss those formats and their costs rather than assuming the most expensive one is the right choice.
Consider a Louvre morning. A focused visit, lunch nearby and time around the Palais Royal or Tuileries can make a more enjoyable day than adding another major museum across town. The precise route still depends on your interests, the weather and the opening calendar. The Louvre's official visitor information lists its regular Tuesday closure and recommends booking a time slot. Those practical checks come before arranging the rest of the day.
Tickets do not remove every queue
Advance booking can secure an available time slot and avoid having to buy a ticket on arrival. It does not mean bypassing security or having an empty museum. The ticket type, entrance and instructions matter, as do any separate arrangements for a guided visit.
We do not promise access to sold-out attractions or every sought-after restaurant. If a first choice is unavailable, the useful question is which alternative preserves what you wanted from the experience. A good backup should fit your day and taste, not just fill a blank slot.
Hotels, airport arrivals and the days between
Your hotel location shapes much of your stay. We look at the neighborhood alongside the room category, walking distances, nearby evening plans and cancellation conditions, not only the star rating.
For arrival after a flight, we can arrange a meet-and-greet transfer with the meeting instructions confirmed in advance. Tell us about luggage and any mobility equipment before a vehicle is selected. A return transfer may need less assistance, so we discuss what is actually useful rather than automatically adding the same service twice.
If you already booked a hotel or a cruise, tell us. We can discuss planning around it rather than asking you to start over. For a longer trip, our France planning service and Italy planning service explain the broader destination scope.
How the fee and booking approvals work
We explain the planning fee separately from hotels, meals, tickets, tours and transport. Tour and transfer prices are the quoted package prices, not a promise that every supplier service is passed through at cost. The written estimate should make it clear which amounts are payable to Chic Trip and which remain payable directly elsewhere.
First we agree on the proposed trip and scope. Then we provide the estimate and payment steps for the approved work and bookings. Supplier prices and availability remain subject to confirmation, particularly for travel dates that are not yet on sale. You should not need to commit to an unexplained total to find out what is included.
Good value may mean avoiding a duplicated visit, choosing a hotel that reduces daily transfers, or paying for expert guiding only where it adds something. We look for that value, but do not guarantee savings that have not been measured against a comparable quote.
Is a concierge right for you?
It is worth considering if you want a trip shaped around you and would prefer one person to coordinate the moving parts. If you enjoy doing the research and only need one museum ticket, direct booking may be all you need. A conversation should establish that fit before you pay for planning you do not need.
Can you work with reservations I have already made?
Yes, we can discuss an itinerary built around your existing arrangements. Send the dates, locations and relevant conditions first. We will identify what can be kept and what needs checking, without assuming those bookings can be changed.
Are meals and museum tickets included in the planning fee?
No. Coordination and the actual cost of the experience are different things. The proposal separates our fee from trip expenses and specifies any inclusions in a quoted tour or transfer.
Is support available during the trip?
Our Concierge includes support during your stay, including WhatsApp. We confirm the contact arrangements for your booking. This is not a replacement for emergency services, and we do not promise unlimited availability or free supplier changes.
What should I send before a first conversation?
Your approximate dates, number of travelers, existing bookings, main interests and comfortable trip budget are enough to start. Mention any access needs. You do not need to send passport scans or card details to discuss a possible trip.
See Chic Trip's Paris Concierge service, or choose a time to speak with Fred. We can talk through what you would like to keep, what still needs arranging and where local help would make the most difference.
